A MOURNING STAR

A Mourning Star are a Canadian metalcore band from the Vancouver area, drawing on the late-’90s and early-2000s sound of bands like Undying and 7 Angels 7 Plagues, with melodic death metal woven into their approach.

Their songs move between intricate, Gothenburg-style guitar riffs, harsh vocals, haunting melodies and breakdowns, putting the guitar work front and centre rather than relying on downtuned chugs alone. The EP Necessity Has Clipped My Wings expands their sound with stronger production, more prominent melodic leads and guest vocals from members of Trench and Seasons Worn.

A Mourning Star bring a melodic, riff-driven take on metalcore that connects the genre’s underground roots with its current revival.
